Concentricos is an interactive installation composed of pulley systems and MDF panels, developed by Ricardo Rendón in his Mexico City studio in 2019. The work extends the artist's ongoing investigation into the transformation of materials through repetitive manual and mechanical processes, creating a dynamic environment where the viewer's presence activates the system.
The installation employs industrial pulleys arranged in concentric configurations, suspending and mobilizing MDF elements within the exhibition space. Through this mechanism, Rendón explores the relationship between center and periphery, action and reaction, establishing a dialogue between the static architecture of the space and the kinetic potential of the work.
As with previous investigations in his practice, Concentricos manifests the artist's interest in making visible the invisible forces of tension, balance, and gravitational pull. The circular movement suggested by the concentric arrangement evokes cycles, repetition, and the continuous transformation of matter — central themes that traverse Rendón's body of work.
The use of MDF, a material associated with construction and industrial fabrication, in conjunction with the pulley mechanism, creates a tension between the handcrafted and the mechanical. This duality reflects the artist's broader inquiry into the nature of labor, production, and the moments where things happen.

Concentricos es una instalación interactiva compuesta por sistemas de poleas y paneles de MDF, desarrollada por Ricardo Rendón en su estudio de la Ciudad de México en 2019. La obra extiende la investigación continua del artista sobre la transformación de materiales a través de procesos manuales y mecánicos repetitivos, creando un entorno dinámico donde la presencia del espectador activa el sistema.
La instalación emplea poleas industriales dispuestas en configuraciones concéntricas, suspendiendo y movilizando elementos de MDF dentro del espacio de exhibición. A través de este mecanismo, Rendón explora la relación entre centro y periferia, acción y reacción, estableciendo un diálogo entre la arquitectura estática del espacio y el potencial cinético de la obra.
Como en investigaciones previas de su práctica, Concentricos manifiesta el interés del artista en hacer visibles las fuerzas invisibles de tensión, equilibrio y atracción gravitacional. El movimiento circular sugerido por la disposición concéntrica evoca ciclos, repetición y la transformación continua de la materia — temas centrales que atraviesan el conjunto de la obra de Rendón.
El uso del MDF, un material asociado a la construcción y la fabricación industrial, en conjunto con el mecanismo de poleas, crea una tensión entre lo hecho a mano y lo mecánico. Esta dualidad refleja la indagación más amplia del artista sobre la naturaleza del trabajo, la producción y los momentos donde las cosas suceden.
