Cumulative Act Effect

MULTIPLESPACINGS is pleased to present CUMULATIVE ACT EFFECT, the first solo exhibition in Bern of the artist Ricardo Rendón (Mexico City, 1970).

CUMULATIVE ACT EFFECT presents a series of works composed by interventions in different spaces and materials. A perforated sheetrock wall, modified newspapers or wallpapers trimmed and folded in different shapes appear as document and testimony of work procedures within the exhibition space, turning it into a setting determined by the creative experience, an ambient where the work is presented as a fact and evidence of the creative execution.

The works of Ricardo Rendón act as a complex diary where the actions are registered, documented and accumulated. His works are an appendix of construction or destruction practices that enunciate the moment where things happen, forms that propose the action as leitmotiv.

Ricardo Rendón proposes an epic that assaults architectures and objects equally. It is a query on the work and its sense by means of the experience. A narrative that the artist establishes leaving in most cases the waste of its activities within the place of intervention. Thus, he proposes a gesture that alludes to its procedure, a commemoration of every moment destined to the production of the capital gain. His work includes reflections that go from the micro to the macro, continuously restituting the work of the artist by its execution in a direct dialogue with the edification — construction.

MULTIPLESPACINGS tiene el placer de presentar CUMULATIVE ACT EFFECT, la primera exposición individual en Berna del artista Ricardo Rendón (Ciudad de México, 1970).

CUMULATIVE ACT EFFECT presenta una serie de obras compuestas por intervenciones en diferentes espacios y materiales. Un muro de tablaroca perforado, periódicos modificados o papeles tapiz recortados y doblados en diferentes formas aparecen como documento y testimonio de procedimientos de trabajo dentro del espacio expositivo, convirtiéndolo en un escenario determinado por la experiencia creativa, un ambiente donde la obra se presenta como hecho y evidencia de la ejecución creativa.

Las obras de Ricardo Rendón actúan como un diario complejo donde las acciones se registran, documentan y acumulan. Sus obras son un apéndice de prácticas de construcción o destrucción que enuncian el momento donde las cosas suceden, formas que proponen la acción como leitmotiv.

Ricardo Rendón propone una épica que asalta arquitecturas y objetos por igual. Es una indagación sobre la obra y su sentido por medio de la experiencia. Una narrativa que el artista establece dejando en la mayoría de los casos los residuos de sus actividades dentro del lugar de intervención. Así, propone un gesto que alude a su procedimiento, una conmemoración de cada momento destinado a la producción de la plusvalía. Su trabajo incluye reflexiones que van de lo micro a lo macro, restituyendo continuamente la obra del artista por su ejecución en un diálogo directo con la edificación — construcción.
