One of the strongest interests represented by the artistic current led by Kazimir Malevich (Kiev 1878) of the group called Supremus in 1915 was to exalt the supremacy of nothingness to represent the universe without objects that necessarily constituted it as a material reality. A metaphysical event in which specific characters were ordered, enunciating the configuration of the composition area from the negative space of forms, placing the protagonists of the composition in a possible space open to different interpretations, seeking thereby the development of human sensibility through geometric abstraction.
Suprematism, together with other artistic movements of the time, was the necessary response to the revolutionary twentieth century in an evident rejection of the narratives and figurations of the previous century, in favor of understanding the essence of art as an activity of thought expansion generating works that would broaden the platforms of knowledge through aesthetic exercise, gestating an alternative line that articulated the history of images in a more diverse way, bequeathing to the world new forms of abstraction from it.
The studies surrounding the analysis of artistic conception through abstraction that followed after the second half of the twentieth century have been a legacy for the development of projects by many artists today, taking up questions related to truth within the exercise of artistic practice, posed from a phenomenological point of view. Ricardo Rendón (Mexico 1970) is an artist who has incorporated into his work different aspects related to the origin of the work of art, pointing to artistic practice as the development of human capacities that go beyond the technical efficiency of the materials with which he works, underlining the creative experience as a motive to share with the viewer of his work, by leaving the work as a space for reflection and analysis of the aesthetic event.
Espacios de Concentración is how Ricardo Rendón refers to the exhibition of works that take up different premises that are related to the “suprematist” search to understand the substance with which the work of art is constructed, from formal essays where the compositional practice for the description of the universe is made manifest.
Contact and friction are the actions that Ricardo Rendón enunciates on this occasion as premises for understanding the exercise he presents at Galería Enrique Guerrero; actions that coincide and resemble his interest in art history and, in this case, with the aesthetics of modern painting translated into a material language that is not proper to it, proposing the pictorial exercise as a “mental space of concentration” where one can reflect on the genesis of the origin of the plastic and aesthetic construction of the work of art. Espacios de Concentración is one more bet by Ricardo Rendón where he seeks to evidence and share the elements that integrate his work in relation to the theoretical and artistic influences that have formed him throughout his career, thus inserting himself into a great chain of aesthetic events that make up the history of images within art.
