Materia Oscura brings together a series of works made from modified rubber — industrial tires transformed through manual intervention. The material, drawn from the sphere of utility and wear, is perforated, cut, and reconfigured into organic patterns that suggest both growth and decay. The repetitive gesture of piercing the rubber creates a field of holes through which light and space pass, turning the dense, opaque material into a permeable membrane.
The central work, Patrones de Trabajo (Materia Oscura), consists of twenty-two pieces of modified tire arranged across the wall and floor of the gallery. Measuring 3.5 x 2.7 meters, the installation occupies the architecture rather than merely decorating it — the pieces curl, hang, and pool like dark vegetation or spilled liquid frozen in motion. The perforations, made by hand without mechanical assistance, register the duration of the labor and the physical resistance of the material.
Rendón's intervention in the tires does not seek to erase their origin but to extend it: the tread patterns, brand markings, and worn surfaces remain visible, grounding the work in the reality of industrial production and daily use. Yet through the artist's systematic alteration, these discarded objects acquire a new status — no longer refuse, but matter charged with attention and presence.

Materia Oscura reúne una serie de obras realizadas con caucho modificado — neumáticos industriales transformados mediante intervención manual. El material, extraído de la esfera de la utilidad y el desgaste, es perforado, cortado y reconfigurado en patrones orgánicos que sugieren tanto crecimiento como decadencia. El gesto repetitivo de perforar el caucho crea un campo de agujeros a través de los cuales pasan la luz y el espacio, convirtiendo el material denso y opaco en una membrana permeable.
La obra central, Patrones de Trabajo (Materia Oscura), consta de veintidós piezas de neumático modificado dispuestas a lo largo de la pared y el piso de la galería. Con una medida de 3.5 x 2.7 metros, la instalación ocupa la arquitectura en lugar de simplemente decorarla — las piezas se enrollan, cuelgan y se acumulan como vegetación oscura o líquido derramado congelado en movimiento. Las perforaciones, hechas a mano sin asistencia mecánica, registran la duración del trabajo y la resistencia física del material.
La intervención de Rendón en los neumáticos no busca borrar su origen sino extenderlo: los patrones de banda de rodadura, las marcas de fabricación y las superficies desgastadas permanecen visibles, anclando la obra en la realidad de la producción industrial y el uso cotidiano. Sin embargo, a través de la alteración sistemática del artista, estos objetos descartados adquieren un nuevo estatus — ya no son desechos, sino materia cargada de atención y presencia.
