In Trabajo Mural: Muro Falso (2008), Ricardo Rendón intervenes in the administrative architecture of the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco by modifying an existing office wall. The work consists of a false wall built from wooden panels into which a systematic grid of circular apertures has been cut. The removed discs accumulate at the base of the structure, forming a residue of the operation that testifies to the labour invested in the piece.
The wall functions simultaneously as barrier and screen: it divides space while permitting vision through its perforations, creating a tension between opacity and transparency, between the architectural language of institutional containment and the possibility of passage. The regular rhythm of the circular cuts recalls industrial processes and serial production, yet each aperture bears the slight irregularities of manual execution, asserting the presence of the hand against the anonymity of the built environment.
By naming the work a "false wall," Rendón draws attention to the provisional nature of all architectural boundaries. The piece transforms a mundane office partition into a meditation on presence and absence, on what is removed in order to make space for seeing. The scattered discs at the foot of the wall serve as both documentation and material residue, grounding the conceptual operation in the physical reality of displaced matter.

En Trabajo Mural: Muro Falso (2008), Ricardo Rendón interviene en la arquitectura administrativa del Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco modificando un muro existente de oficina. La obra consiste en un muro falso construido con paneles de madera en los que se ha cortado una retícula sistemática de aperturas circulares. Los discos removidos se acumulan en la base de la estructura, formando un residuo de la operación que da testimonio del trabajo invertido en la pieza.
El muro funciona simultáneamente como barrera y pantalla: divide el espacio al tiempo que permite la visión a través de sus perforaciones, creando una tensión entre opacidad y transparencia, entre el lenguaje arquitectónico de contención institucional y la posibilidad de paso. El ritmo regular de los cortes circulares evoca procesos industriales y producción en serie, sin embargo cada apertura conserva las ligeras irregularidades de la ejecución manual, afirmando la presencia de la mano frente a la anonimidad del entorno construido.
Al denominar a la obra "muro falso," Rendón llama la atención sobre el carácter provisional de todos los límites arquitectónicos. La pieza transforma una mundana división de oficina en una meditación sobre presencia y ausencia, sobre lo que se remueve para hacer espacio para la visión. Los discos dispersos al pie del muro sirven como documentación y como residuo material, anclando la operación conceptual en la realidad física de la materia desplazada.
